EMS System Review

How are the EMS response times in your community?

Existing EMS System and Agency Operations Audits

As governmental leaders, you’re charged with making sure that your citizens are getting the best possible EMS response, but how do you KNOW that your system is optimized? We can help.

Our national experience and perspective will evaluate the system as it exists, analyze the needs that are being underserved (if any) and ask the hard questions about the future and any impending ‘horizon issues’ to make sure that there is long-term strategic planning and system stability.

If we find that your system IS optimized, you’ll have peace of mind that will let you sleep well at night.

If improvements or enhancements are needed, we will help create customized, cost-effective and operationally sound local solutions. EMS agencies are being tasked with more and more missions and ensuring that the system is both designed for optimal performance and funded properly is the outcome we will help you achieve.

BLS/ALS Ambulance System Design Studies

What level of care do you need?  What levels of care can you afford?  How best to operate the system to achieve the missions assigned?  EMS systems are faced with these questions daily.  As populations grow, demographics change, and funding sources deplete, creativity is required to deploy the right levels of care to those who need it without overspending along the way.

Need an objective opinion…contact us to discuss your situation.

Ambulance / Paramedic Bid, RFP and Contract Negotiation projects

Creating a Bid or RFP document for Ambulance or Paramedic service is a tricky process. In more than 30 years in the EMS industry, less than 8% of the RFPs we’ve seen have adequate provisions to reduce liability to the contracting municipality.  Did you know that your service delivery specifications alone can drive the cost up or down by more than 30%?

Further, the resulting contracts are littered with issues that can cause significant legal headaches for both the providers and the contracting entity.

Most municipal attorneys do not have significant EMS system operational knowledge and don’t know the importance of contract components such as, system overload provisions, dedicated resource vs. response time requirements (and the cost implications of each), the importance of inserting billing protections for the citizens, requiring age of equipment and experience of the staff provisions.

We’ve been assisting EMS providers, community leaders and attorneys reach effective common ground with well-crafted contracts for more than three decades.

Emergency and Continuity Planning

Staff & Citizen emergency training (Medical-Fire-Violence)

Preparedness

In today’s society, lots of things can happen in any community.

Emergency Medical situations, Fires, facility Threats from external sources or natural disasters, drug labs and unfortunately even Violence towards citizens, first responders, schools and medical centers.

Are you adequately prepared?   Is your staff aware of your expectations, educated on any policies that you’ve created and TRAINED to act?  When was the last time you plans were tested?

In many cases, the policies as well as the education and training is required by OSHA.  Failure to be pro-active can result in injuries or loss of life as well as costly legal action and fines.

We can help.  Our team of experienced EMS, fire and law enforcement professionals will help you assess your facilities, confidentially discuss any weak points, develop any plans that may be required, train you and your staff to take definitive life-saving action and then test your readiness.

Marketing and Public Relations

(including Crisis Communication)

Are you prepared to handle a crisis?

Who, specifically, is officially designated as your Public Information Officer and their back-up?

The time to plan for the inevitable bad day is NOT as the satellite trucks are setting up in your driveway.

Facility emergencies, sickness outbreaks, data breaches, staff or student misconduct, violent events or legal trouble can all trigger a media frenzy. We can help train your PIOs or we can, via contract, serve in the role of Crisis Communicators for you.

Let’s discuss your concerns and formulate a Media Response Plan, before you need one.

I would love to see a PEOPLE magazine edition dedicated to military and first responders and their families who made the ultimate sacrifice.

Doubtful that they or any other publication would have the guts.
